2,600 tons of beans in 50 kg. sacks

By Justin Facey

Carga de mercancía en bodegas de barco

Gathering the sacks in trucks, storing them at the port, clearing customs, having everything ready for loading the cargo in as short a time as possible, and getting the charter vessel on its way at the planned time.

This, in a nutshell, is a recent project of ours. A job requiring a display of precision of which we are extremely proud.

The figures for this latest project are really quite impressive due not only to the volume of the cargo transported but also because of its special characteristics, which called for perfect coordination, fully protected against the interference of any kind.

A large-scale project

The project got underway with the collection of the product: 2.6 million kilos of black beans which were stored in different warehouses in Durango and distributed in 50 kg. 52,000 sacks. In order to travel the 1,400 Km to the port of Veracruz, we availed of 104 trucks which transported the product over a period of one week to the port of exit. There we took charge of its unloading, as well as its storage.

Once all the cargo was at the port, the next step involved dealing with the export formalities which, as it was a question of food products,  are usually quite particular. Immediately after, we took charge of taking all the products to the corresponding dock. As a result, when the vessel in charge of the transport arrived, the personnel, the material and the permits were all ready to start loading, a process that took three days.

Coordination, communication and experience: the keys to success

Everything was done with precision. Once again, we found that our programming had been spot-on. Of course, for everything to go to plan, we relied on perfect coordination on the part of our team and smooth and effective communication with the collaborating companies and the governmental agencies.

Joining forces and working as a team is, for us, the path to success. Let’s not forget that any issue arising when carrying out formalities or maneuvers would have implied a delay and extra costs for remaining at the port.

What’s more, we were, once again, able to confirm our broad experience in project cargo and ship handling, which meant we were able to anticipate possible contingencies and draw up a tailored planning process. This is, when all is said and done, the tool that allows us to offer our clients realistic timetables and estimates without surprises.
